The leaders of the Whigs were Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, and John C. Calhoun. Although John C. Calhoun was not an official Whig, he did side with Henry Clay and Daniel Webster and despised Jackson

The Whigs had several goals. One goal was that they wanted to expand federal power. The Whigs also wanted to have industrial and commercial development. Lastly they also wanted to increase the amount of opportunities for Americans

The Democratic Ideals expressed by the Whigs were that they wanted development and improvement. Also that they wanted to achieve a progressive society towards unity and order.

What Were The Successes of the Whigs?

The whigs started the Anti-Masonry     Movement in New York (1820)

 

Whigs tended to be weathy and have an aristocratic background. Most Whigs were based in New England and in New York. 

The Whigs were cautious of expanding west. This was because they feared rapid growth because it would lead to an unstable nation. 

What were the Failures of the Whigs?

One of the most significant failures of the Whigs was that they could not unite behind a national leader, so allegiance was divided between Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, and John C. Calhoun.
